Musical News - Vesta Williams

I am saddened to report that Vesta, the singer of the one song that gets to me every time has passed away. Vesta Williams (mostly known as just "Vesta"), who was widely known for her rendition of "Congratulations", left this earth on Thursday, September 22, 2011, allegedly of an accidental drug overdose. Ms. Williams was 53 years of age.

Vesta appeared in the 1993 film "Posse" with Mario van Peebles, as a saloon singer. In the 1980s, she worked as a session musician with Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Stephanie Mills, and others.

Vesta's outstanding voice never received the recognition it should have, but I, for one, will never forget her!
