Musical News - Nickolas Ashford

It is with great regret that I inform you all that singer-songwriter Nickolas Ashford passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 of complications resulting from throat cancer. The duo Ashford & Simpson is famous for such popular songs as "Solid (As a Rock)," "Is it Still Good to You", and "Found a Cure". Amazingly, they co-wrote big hits for other artists such as "Let's  Go Get Stoned" (Ray Charles), "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "You're All I Need to Get By," and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" (Marvin and Tammi), and "I'm Every Woman" (Chaka Khan).

Nick exhibited his acting ability in the blockbuster "New Jack City" (1991).

The husband-and-wife duo was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2002.

I am certain that our sincere best wishes go out to Valerie Simpson in her time of loss. R.I.P. Nick!
