Musical News - Etta James

I regret to inform you that soul music icon Etta James (born Jamesetta Hawkins)  has passed away at a hospital in Riverside, California, just days shy of her 74th birthday. She was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, and also suffered from dementia and hepatitis C. Ms. James’s most famous recording, a favorite around the world, is “At Last” (1961). Other chart toppers include "Tell Mama" and "I'd Rather Go Blind."

Ms. James won six Grammys and was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her life was portrayed in the 2008 film “Cadillac Records”.

The death of Ms. James can practically be considered the end of an era. Fortunately, we have her music to remember her by.
